Design Brief
Multipurpose Activity Center
The Competition aimed to explore sensitive and intelligent designs that recognise the existing context as an important layer of the settlement. The design had to evolve from the available resources of the place and needs of its people. The multipurpose activity center was indicated required to be able to transform itself through the day, engaging different age groups - from an informal playschool for children(Balwadi) in the mornings, to vocational training center / workshop to make and encourage products manufactured by the women dwellers in the afternoon, to a place for social gatherings or hold bhajans in the evening and a shelter for homeless at night.
